Declaration of Generative Ai Sources

Authors must declare the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the writing process at the time of manuscript submission. This policy applies specifically to the use of such technologies for scientific writing and does not cover the use of AI tools for data analysis, data processing, coding, image analysis, or other research-related activities. Such uses should be reported separately where relevant and appropriate.

Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies may be used only to support the readability, language quality, clarity, or presentation of a manuscript. Their use must remain under human oversight and control. Authors are responsible for carefully reviewing, verifying, and editing any AI-generated or AI-assisted content, as such tools may produce information that is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or biased. Authors retain full responsibility and accountability for the accuracy, originality, academic integrity, and ethical compliance of their manuscript.

AI tools and AI-assisted technologies must not be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. Authorship involves intellectual contribution, responsibility, and accountability that can only be assigned to human authors.

If generative AI or AI-assisted technologies are used in the writing process, authors must provide a declaration in the manuscript at the time of first submission. The declaration should appear in a separate section before the References under the following heading:

The statement may follow this format:

During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL / SERVICE] for [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take full responsibility for the content of the manuscript.

The declaration is not required for the use of basic editorial tools that do not generate substantive content, such as standard spelling checkers, grammar checkers, or reference management software.

AI Use in Peer Review and Editorial Evaluation

To protect author rights, manuscript confidentiality, and the integrity of the peer-review process, INSPIRE does not permit reviewers or editors to upload submitted manuscripts, reviewer reports, editorial communications, or other confidential peer-review materials into generative AI tools or AI-assisted services, including but not limited to ChatGPT or similar systems, during the peer-review and manuscript evaluation process, unless explicitly authorized by the journal under secure and compliant conditions.

Reviewers and editors remain responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all materials received during the editorial and peer-review process and must exercise appropriate professional judgment when using any AI-assisted technology.

Policy Review

INSPIRE may review and update this policy periodically in response to developments in scholarly publishing, research integrity standards, and responsible AI governance. Any significant changes to this policy will be communicated through the journal's official website and editorial guidelines.
