Peer Review Policy

Publication of articles in Journal of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability Education (JEESE) depends entirely on scientific validity, methodological rigor, and scholarly contribution, as evaluated by editors and peer reviewers. All manuscripts are assessed for clarity, coherence, originality, and relevance to the field of Earth, environmental, and sustainability education. JEESE highly appreciates the valuable contributions and constructive feedback provided by its reviewers in maintaining the quality of published work.

Reviewing Policies

  • Every submitted manuscript is reviewed by at least two expert reviewers in the relevant field.
  • JEESE applies a double-blind peer review system: reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of reviewers.
  • The review process evaluates originality, significance, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation.
  • The editorial team aims to provide initial decisions within approximately 2–4 weeks, depending on reviewer availability.
  • The Editor’s decision is final; manuscripts deemed unsuitable for publication will not be reconsidered.
  • All communication, including editorial decisions and revision requests, is conducted via email.
  • Accepted manuscripts must be revised in accordance with reviewer and editor comments before publication.

Initial Evaluation of Manuscripts

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the Editor. At this stage, manuscripts may be rejected if they:

  • lack originality or novelty,
  • contain significant methodological or scientific flaws, or
  • fall outside the journal’s aims and scope.

Manuscripts that meet the minimum standards are forwarded to reviewers for further evaluation. In rare cases, outstanding manuscripts may be accepted directly at this stage.

Type of Peer Review

JEESE employs a double-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who assess:

  • scientific soundness and coherence,
  • originality and contribution to the field,
  • clarity and organization of the manuscript, and
  • overlap with previously published work.

Review Reports

Reviewers are requested to evaluate whether the manuscript:

  • Clearly states research objectives and identifies knowledge gaps
  • Demonstrates sound and appropriate methodology
  • Adheres to ethical research standards
  • Presents results clearly and supports conclusions effectively
  • Appropriately cites relevant prior work

Reviewers are not expected to perform detailed language editing or copyediting. Language polishing remains the responsibility of the authors.
