Withdrawal of Manuscript

Journal of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability Education (JEESE) expects authors to submit manuscripts responsibly and only after ensuring that the manuscript is ready for editorial processing and is not under consideration by another journal. Requests to withdraw a manuscript are generally strongly discouraged, except in cases involving valid and compelling reasons.

A withdrawal request may be considered only for reasonable grounds, such as:

  • Major errors discovered by the authors
  • Ethical concerns identified before publication
  • Unintentional duplicate submission
  • Other serious and justifiable circumstances

Because manuscript handling involves substantial editorial effort, peer review time, and publishing resources, authors are expected to avoid unnecessary withdrawal requests, especially when the manuscript has already entered the review or production stage.

If authors wish to withdraw a submitted manuscript, the corresponding author must submit a formal withdrawal request to the editorial office stating the reason for withdrawal. The request must be accompanied by written confirmation from all co-authors, or a statement confirming that all co-authors have been informed and have agreed to the withdrawal.

Authors must not assume that the manuscript has been withdrawn until they receive official written confirmation from the editorial office. Until such confirmation is issued, the manuscript will remain an active submission in the journal’s editorial system.

Withdrawal of a manuscript after acceptance, or at an advanced stage of peer review or production, will be subject to careful editorial consideration, as such actions may disrupt the publication process and waste significant editorial and reviewer effort.

It is considered unethical to withdraw a manuscript solely because it has been accepted or is under consideration by another journal, particularly if the manuscript was submitted simultaneously to more than one journal. Simultaneous submission violates accepted publication ethics standards.
