Withdrawal of Manuscript

Journal of Sustainability and Community Empowerment (JSCE) expects authors to submit manuscripts responsibly and only after ensuring that the manuscript is ready for editorial processing and is not under consideration by another journal. Manuscript withdrawal requests are generally discouraged, particularly when they are made without a valid and compelling reason.

A withdrawal request may be considered for reasonable grounds, including:

  • major errors identified by the authors;
  • ethical concerns identified before publication;
  • accidental duplicate or simultaneous submission; or
  • other serious and justifiable circumstances.

Because manuscript processing involves substantial editorial work and peer-review resources, authors are expected to avoid unnecessary withdrawal requests, particularly after a manuscript has entered the peer-review process.

If authors wish to withdraw a submitted manuscript, the corresponding author must submit a formal withdrawal request to the Editorial Office, clearly stating the reason for withdrawal. The request should include confirmation that all co-authors have been informed of and agree to the withdrawal.

Authors must not assume that a manuscript has been withdrawn until they receive official confirmation from the Editorial Office. Until such confirmation is issued, the manuscript remains an active submission in the journal's editorial system.

Withdrawal requests made after acceptance, or at an advanced stage of peer review or production, will be subject to careful editorial consideration because such withdrawal may disrupt the publication process and result in the unnecessary use of editorial and reviewer resources.

It is considered inappropriate publication practice to withdraw a manuscript solely because the authors have received, or expect to receive, an acceptance decision from another journal. Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals.

If a manuscript has already been accepted for publication by JSCE, authors should contact the Editorial Office before taking any action to submit or publish the same work elsewhere.
