Author Guidelines

All papers submitted to Journal of Sustainable Social Studies Education (JSSSE) must be written in clear and academically appropriate English. Authors whose native language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscripts reviewed for grammar, clarity, and language quality prior to submission. Manuscripts submitted to JSSSE must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal or publication venue.

The official language of manuscripts published in JSSSE is English.

General Author Guidelines

1. Manuscript Preparation

1.1 General Format

  • Articles must be written in English.
  • Manuscript length: 3000–8000 words, including references, tables, and appendices.
  • Use Times New Roman, font size 11 pt, single spacing, and A4 paper size.
  • Page margins: 2.54 cm on all sides.
  • Maximum manuscript length: 17 pages.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.docx).

2. Structure of the Article

2.1 Title

  • Maximum 16 words.
  • Use Times New Roman and center alignment.
  • The title should clearly reflect the core content of the article.

2.2 Authors and Affiliations

  • Include full name(s) of author(s), followed by institution and study program.
  • Mark the corresponding author with an asterisk (*).
  • Provide the corresponding author’s email address.

2.3 Abstract

  • Length: 150–250 words.
  • The abstract should be written in italic format.
  • Include research objectives, methodology, data analysis, and key findings.
  • Use Times New Roman 11 pt with single spacing.

2.4 Keywords

  • Provide a minimum of three keywords.
  • Keywords should reflect the essence and focus of the article.

3. Main Body Structure

3.1 Introduction

  • Section title should use ALL CAPS, Bold, 12 pt.
  • Include background, rationale, literature review, theoretical approach, objectives, and hypotheses (if applicable).

3.2 Method

  • Include research design, sample and sampling techniques, instruments, procedures, analysis techniques, software used, and ethical considerations.
  • Decimal subheadings may be used where necessary (e.g., 2.1, 2.2).

3.3 Results and Discussion

  • Present findings supported by tables, graphs, images, or figures.
  • Discuss findings sequentially according to the research objectives.
  • Relate findings to relevant theories and previous studies.
  • All figures and tables must include titles (e.g., Fig. 1. ... or Table 1. ...) and be integrated within the manuscript text.

3.4 Conclusion and Suggestion

  • Conclusions should be concise yet substantive.
  • Highlight major findings and provide recommendations, implications, or future directions.

3.5 Acknowledgment (if applicable)

  • Mention funding sources and grant numbers where applicable.
  • Acknowledge contributions from individuals, institutions, or organizations.

4. Figures and Tables

  • Figures must be high-resolution and clearly legible.
  • Font size used in figures should be consistent (approximately 11 pt).
  • Tables may use slightly smaller fonts if necessary but must remain readable.
  • Figures may be placed side-by-side to optimize layout and space usage.
  • Equations should be numbered consistently and referred to as “equation (1)” rather than “eq. (1)”.

5. References

  • Use APA Style (latest edition).
  • Minimum of 20 references per article.
  • At least 80% of references should be from sources published within the last 10 years.
  • Authors are encouraged to use citation management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • Use Times New Roman 11 pt for the reference list.

6. Submission Process

Authors should submit manuscripts through the Online Journal System (OJS) available at:

All submitted manuscripts will undergo plagiarism and similarity screening before entering the peer review process.
